Patient Story — 01

Biscuit stopped limping
three weeks in.

At eleven, our yellow lab Biscuit had slowed to a shuffle on morning walks. Two vets had tried him on meloxicam. It helped, then it didn't. His bloodwork couldn't take another course.

After his third acupuncture session, my husband filmed him trotting across the backyard to greet the neighbor's dog — something he hadn't done in over a year. We stood there and cried a little.

"Pumpkin used to hide under the bed for days after her shelter anxiety kicked in. Now she sleeps in the living room."

Patient Story — 02

A rescue cat who
finally learned to rest.

Pumpkin came home from the shelter with trauma written into her posture — hunched, hypervigilant, impossible to touch without flinching. Behavioral meds helped at the edges but never reached the center of it.

Acupuncture, we were told, could calm the nervous system directly. By session four, Pumpkin was sleeping somewhere we could see her. That was everything.

Seven years of jumping.
Hips that remembered it.

Calliope is a 14-year-old Warmblood who competed through her twelth year. The hip stiffness came on slowly — first noticed in warm-up, then in daily turnout. Injections bought time. Then the window between them shortened.

Her trainer brought us out to the barn on a Tuesday. We placed twelve needles along her hindquarters and lumbar. She stood perfectly still, ears soft, lower lip loose. An hour later she walked out of the cross-ties with a longer stride.

"Horses don't perform calm. When Calliope's lip dropped, I knew the needles had found what we were looking for."
